Blind in The Light

Instead of addressing the root
Of why our people dey loot
Some of our leader's dey say
The youths are high every day

But this is what I think
Their words honestly stink
For they are blind in the light
As those who are lacking in sight

Yes! Our youths are high but on poverty and neglect
That is why they struggle to give honour, respect
To those who for long have pillaged the land
Who have refused to take up a stand

Against the enemies of the poor and the youth
Sponsoring lies, falsehood and untruth
Lies to divide the people by tribe
Offering the truth deceit as a bribe

As if truth can ever be deceived
Or liars are to be trusted believed
As if the foolish can lay claim to being wise
See as these people dey camo, disguise

Therefore if your words will not heal
Let your lips be calm, yes be still
Let your hands now begin to act
With wisdom, virtue, foresight and tact

Let your hands now begin to do
Things that will benefit many not a few
Then maybe those that you today claim are “high”
May have hope in you and not just beyond the sky
